The Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute is a member of the International Theatre Institute (I.T.I..) of Unesco and one of its 90 National Centers founded all over the world since 1948.
It was founded in 1951 and it is a non-governmental and non-profitable organization. Theatre professionals (actors, directors, stage-directors, theatrologists, theatre critics, theatre playwrights, theatre translators, e.g.) can be members of the Hellenic Centre of the I.T.I.
The Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute is being subsidized by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and is co-operating with cultural organizations and foundations in Greece and abroad, as well as with Embassies and Cultural Institutes of foreign countries in Greece.
The objective of the Hellenic Centre of I.T.I. is to promote international collaboration towards the evolution of the performative arts and to function as a channel of communication, creation and intervention between the Hellenic and the international field of performative arts.
The Board of the Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute consists of people active in different fields. Its intention is to embody the ideal visioning of its members – even the boldest ones – and to be the vehicle of their expression. It pursues an opening of cooperation and effective participation of its members in the forthcoming actions.
