CV: He is a graduate of Athens Conservatory (Flute), the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece, Athens University (Classics), New York University (Filmmaking) and the University of California at Irvine (MFA in Stage Directing). He appeared in three productions of the National Theatre of Greece before leaving on scholarships from the Onassis and Leventis foundations for the United States. There, along with his formal studies he attended sessions at the Actors Studio and worked intensively for two years with Grotowski. He subsequently received a fellowship from the D.W.Waddell foundation to train as artistic director at the Arizona Theatre Company. His over 30 directorial credits in the U.S. include his own adaptations and/or translations of works by Sophocles, Euripides, Brecht, Mishima, Beckett, Cocteau, Lorca, Genet, Pinter, Rimbaud, Müller, Poe, Yourcenar, along with collaborations with several playwrights in the development of new works. In Greece he has staged his own adaptations and/or translations of The Fall of the House of Usher, The Complete Works of Shkspre Abridged, The Illusion, Sire Halewyn, The Vagina Monologues, How I Learned to Drive, The Mystery of Irma Vep, The Acharnians (at Epidaurus), Scenes from an Execution, The Blacksmiths, Proof, Our Country’s Good, Cabaret, Henceforward, All my Sons, Hysteria, Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image…” and The Taming of the Shrew. In others’ translations he directed Servant of Two Masters, American Buffalo, Babylonia, Shear Madness, Arcadia, The Talking Cure, Don Carlos, Le Libertin, Calendar Girls and Incendies. He has taught acting at the Department of Theatre Studies of the Athens University and directing at the University of Peloponnese. He has served as President of the a Hellenic Centre of the International Theatre Institute and is currently Head of the Athens Conservatory Drama School.
Current projects: Presentation of performances by the graduating class of the Athens Conservatory Drama School at the Onassis Cultural Centre.
