ANCIENT WORD - CONTEMPORARY BODY
A Series of practical courses & workshops titled:
“ANCIENT WORD - CONTEMPORARY BODY”
The workshops for the public, for young people interested in the research and practice of the study group and its applications and supported by experts in the particular subjects.
Conducted throughout the year at regular intervals, but also during some Friday - weekends.

Indicative program:
1. ANCIENT DANCE IN HISTORY * (Every first Thursday of the month at 15:30) - Scholeiou 8, Plaka
These research meetings examine the history and philosophy of ancient Greek dance by qualified researchers and with all the members of the Study Group of Ancient Orchesis of the dance theater “Dora Stratou”. Coordinated by Anna Lazou.
2. MOVEMENT AND DANCE - ANCIENT ORCHESIS** (every fortnight - every second Thursday - 18:30 to 20:00 - 8 School, Plaka)
Taught movement, dance, ancient drama from the perspective of ancient Greek dance.
The courses focus on teaching a dance vocabulary (syllabus) set up by the research team, based on the teaching methods of Ruby Ginner (England), Fifika Nikolopoulou (Greece) and contemporary experimental data about movement, dance and ancient drama (various methods). The monitoring of these courses require registration and deposit of fees for one semester at the school of Dance Theatre “Dora Stratou”.
Students are admitted on application with biographical information.
3. BODY AND LOGOS: SONG * (Every Saturday 16 - 18.00) Ippokratous 15, 4th floor, room Music Department.
Free open courses for those interested in ancient drama introduced through basic principles of breathing techniques, physical exercises and speech. Taught by the actor-director Andrew Koutsourelis et al.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in events and performances in Greece and abroad, as well as international conferences; there will be available bibliography and other information material.
